You know, this was something I never thought about. Science is allowing us to live longer lives. What I considered “old”is not what I am experiencing. Not sure of the value in other species but in humans if lucky enough to live as an older adult I can definitely say it can be what you make of it. Seems that’s exactly what you’re doing. Enjoy this very much.

Never thought I'd be researching if other species live long past their reproductive period, butI was certainly surprised by what I found. Thank you for reading!

I’m right there with you, Rebecca. It’s been about a year and all my kids are fully fledged but one hilarious and very much adult 24 year old. I’m trying to sink into my croneness... Finding pockets of rest where there was activity. Refining my vision of what knowledge I want to expand on and what I want to share. Science hasn’t focused on what crones can do because if they revealed the truth of the power of women our age, the patriarchy would crumble into dust.

It's such an fascinating transition. I wish we did more to prepare each other and to celebrate this last phase.

Yes, indeed. Out culture is missing this. I think that means we get to make it up as we go.

Really great piece Rebecca. It's representative of why I joined Substack~ the desire, now that I'm retired, to expand my horizons and my interscape..

Thank you so much.

This piece is still my favorite of all I've written here so far. Long May We Reign! has become my rallying cry. :-) Thank you so much for your kind words. And well... Long may we Reign!!
