I’ve been to Australia twice, love all of their birds, in fact, I raise kookaburras, among other things. The little fairy wrens are among my favorite birds. Thanks for the great story! Corvids are also among my favorite critters.
Freaking kookaburras. There was one always waiting for me to look the other way and then stealing the mice out of my bucket when I was feeding the rehab hawks in Australia. 😆 That one I actually did train to land on my hand for a mouse because it was easier to have a agreement than to try to keep an eye on him. Those suckers are fast!! And I've always wanted to have a captively bred one. 😊 Jealous!!
Both of my kooks will take mice from my hand. They are a great way to meet the neighbors :-) They don’t come to complain, but to see if they are hearing monkeys. Sounds like the old Tarzan movies.
Thoughtful and well written. This is probably why I keep fish. Perhaps they are ordinary but still able to enthrall me.
