Ohhhh. That's horrible. I've lost quite a few favorite neighborhood pines that had raptor nests to beetles and the drought too. 🙁
I wanted to talk about when they occasionally stop over for the night in the piece, but it was getting long and I wanted to keep it a simple one. But I swear everything about them is juvenile humor. I love watching them take a small tumble in the pines because they think any branch will support them and they just have to be next to their buddy. 😆 Watching them settle in is like watching a clown car fill up.
Beautiful writing, Rebecca! I live in a part of the country where we have Turkey vultures spring-fall, so while I get to see them regularly I’ve never seen them in great kettles like this. Your story about noticing them while most of your neighbors don’t reminds me of Sandhill crane migration here. Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Turkey vultures are so beautiful in their own right, and you captured that in both your words and art 🖤
They used to settle in our trees for the night, but then we lost 13 pines to beetles.

Thank you Rebecca, you have shifted my perception of vultures. Before this, I've only seen them as that which signifies death.
Now I will see them differently, with more wonder and much less dread. You've opened my intention to make this true.
Wonder betters dread.
I love this so SO very much!!! My job here is done! 😆❤❤
